Drawing on the romanticism of summertime in Europe and New England, the casualness of surfing culture, and the balance of “Lagom”, we seek to fully embody the spirit of the modern-day renaissance man/woman.
Gala Babu is about enjoying the simple moments amid the buzz of daily life — what we like to call, “the moments in between”.

The name of the brand stems from the marriage of two contrasting aesthetics that together encapsulate our elegant, and romantic, yet casual “devil-may-care” spirit.
“Gala” originated in Old French as “Gale” meaning “rejoicing” and evolved in early 17th century Italian and Spanish to mean “showy dress”. Today a Gala is a festive party.
“Babu” is defined in some parts of the world as the title of address equivalent to “Sir”, but it’s also a term for a casual person. More fittingly, Babu is a term of endearment derived from the Russian/Polish word for a wise elderly woman or grandmother — “Babushka”.

As people, we’re very much so “a little bit of this, a little bit of that”. We are natural aesthetes trained as designers with wide-ranging interests. Our multi-disciplinary studio makes space for us to create using all of the skills we’ve picked up and perfected on our journey so far. Our plan is to produce limited collections showcasing our favorite “flavor of the moment”.
